This artwork motivated me with the philosophy of death, it is not the end, instead it turns people’s former existence in the world into values.I selected a combination of ceramic and wax materials to reveal flower’s lifetime. It originated from pureness, bloomed in the flame, mixed with fire and light and turned into ashes and broken pieces. It is presenting the idea of empathy and the process of sorrow elimination , while at the same time in memory of my favourite drummer Yifan Cai. Although she is no longer in this world, she left her life and all her emotions in every single drum beat she ever played. When we drowned ourselves into sorrow and pain, we are more likely to focus on what we have lost. However, the unique memories they have brought us, the things they have created as well as the problems and thoughts they have left are still outstanding.
